How much?

So I am supposed to be writing a paper on Lewis Carroll, but for now my mind is trapped in this endless circle of thinking. Sadly enough the thinking is not on the paper.

How brutally honest can you be without breaking someone? How open and exposed, uncensored, can one be without loosing part of themselves. How can everything be on the table, yet have nothing change. How much is too much to say, but where is the line that means you aren't saying enough?
